Jaydev/Jayadev pitha ,kenduvilwa || tourist attraction of odisha

It is around 25 KM from Bhubaneswar city. You can Hire taxi or own arrangement to reach this place.

About Jayadev
Jayadev was a great sanskrit poet who wrote the epic poem GITA GOVINDA. He was born in 1170 and died in 1245. He was popular for his poem in 12th century. The poem based on Krishna Radha love story. 

About Jayadev Pitha
Kenduvilwa is a birthplace of poet Jayadev. It is a good place for picnic seekers.The Jayadev Pitha is maintained by Odisha Tourism & Archaeological Survey of India. Inside the Jaydev Pitha you can see “Padmavati Pond" which has the image of Lord Krishna dancing on the multi-hooded tamed serpent ‘Kaliya’. The huge artificial garden inside the complex is called Jayadev Heritage Garden.

There is picnic facility available inside the garden at normal fee. In Jayadev pitha you can visit Museum. The museum containing images and other archaeological relics related Jayadev.

In this compound you see two temple Padmabati temple and Mukteswar temple.

Padmavati temple
Padmavati Temple has two granite statues of Padmavati. The original Padmavati statue was discovered in 1964 and restored by ASI in 1971. The Padmavati holds a lotus in one hand & one fruit in the others. It is surmounted by a seven hooded snake.

Mukteswar temple
This is a Lord Shiva temple, named Mukteswar Temple. It is inside the Padmavati Temple complex. The shivling here is patalmukhi.
