About Maa Charchika Temple:-
Maa Charchika Temple is situated in Banki Sub-Division. It is a Famous Shakti Shrines in Odisha. This temple is from 9-10th Century Old but recreated in 19th Century. Maa Charchika is seated on a human body and wearing a garland of human skulls.This temple is situated on the top of a small hillock Ruchika Parvata .It belived that the Charchika was created by Parashurama.The temple has a wooden mandapa known as "sunyavahini mandapa".The ceiling of the mandapa is made of wood whereas the pillars are in stone.The wooden ceiling of the mandpa is relieved with episodes from Bhagavata Purana.In Navaratri and Durga Puja huge crowd come to this temple to take blessings of Maa Charchika.Best time to visit the temple is winter season. There are no Hotel,Lodge available to stay.
