About Kantilo Nilamadhaba Temple


Kantilo Nilamadhaba temple is one of the major temple of Odisha. This place is one of the most visited tourist destination of odisha.Shri Nilamadhava Temple is very old and famous Vishnu temple which is near to the bank of Mahanadi in Nayagarh district of Khandapada Block. This place is famous for lord Nilamadhaba. According to Purana's many years ago Lord Vishnu was worshiped as Nilamadhab by sabar king Biswabasu . After that Lord Nilamadhab was appears as Daru murty in Puri Shreemandir so this place is the origin of Load Jagannath.







The design of this temple is very similar to Puri Jagannath temple and the rituals of load Nilamadhab is almost same as in Puri Shreemandir. In addition to main temple you will see lot of parswa temple.

Temple open - 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Prasad Time -11:00 AM to 04:00 PM

Festival :-

  • Maagha saptami Festival or Ratha Saptami is the best festival over here.
  • A fair is held on the Ekadashi of the month of Maagha
  • A special feastival on ‘PAUSA PURNIMA’ . On this occasion, Lord Neelamadhab is decorated with gold ornaments.

How to Reach :-

It is approximately 80 km far from Bhubaneswar.You can hire private vehicle to reach at this destination.

By Bus :-

Local Bus facility is available from Bhubaneswar to kantilo in every half an hour.

By Rail :-

Local railway station is Nayagarh but this station is not facilitate with express train.So nearest railway station is Khordha road (69 km)

By Air :-

Nearest Airport is Bhubaneswar
